Screwball
Definition
A Screwball is ice cream served in a cone-shaped plastic cup with a ball of bubblegum hidden at the bottom. A long-time favourite with children.
A Screwball is soft serve, or sometimes ripple ice cream, in a tall plastic cup shaped like a cone, with a hard ball of bubblegum waiting at the bottom. The fun is working down through the ice cream to reach the prize. It has been a playground favourite in Britain for decades.
Because it comes in a cup, it is a little tidier for young children than a cone, and the bubblegum gives it a bit of theatre. Ours is the Screwball with Flake. Parents of very young children may want to think about the bubblegum, and anyone with allergies should ask us about ingredients before ordering.
