Ice cream van hire for festivals
Self-contained, battery-powered ice cream vans that keep large festival crowds cool without a generator, fumes or noise while we serve.
Festivals are a different kind of booking. The crowd is large, the day is long and the organiser has a site plan, a traders' pack and a production schedule that every vendor has to follow. A van that turns up late, blocks a fire lane or needs a generator dragging across the arena causes real problems. We plan for that from the first conversation.
Our vans are 100% electric while serving. With the engine off, the freezers and the soft serve machine run from the van's own batteries, so there is no generator to place, fuel or keep quiet, and no exhaust drifting across a busy concourse. That makes us easier to slot into a site plan and easier to position near stages, seating areas or family zones where fumes and noise matter.
We have traded at Black Pride Festival and worked with Red Bull on activations, so we understand crowd flow, queue management and the paperwork that comes before the gates open. For organisers, we can supply our £5M public liability certificate, 5 Star Food Hygiene rating, NCASS membership details, COSHH assessment and risk assessment well ahead of the event. That saves your traders' coordinator chasing paperwork during the build.
Why our vans suit it
- No generator to manageBattery power runs the freezers and soft serve machine. There is no fuel on site, no generator noise near the stages and no cable runs across walkways.
- No fumes while servingWith the engine off and no exhaust while we serve, we can sit near seating, family areas and food courts where an idling van would be pushed to the edge of the site.
- Traders' pack readyInsurance, hygiene rating, NCASS membership, COSHH and risk assessments are ready to send. Festival organisers usually need these well before the build.
- Big crowd experienceBlack Pride Festival and Red Bull activations mean we know how to keep a long queue moving and stay calm when the sun comes out and everyone arrives at once.
01
Get the pitch on the site plan
Tell us the pitch size, the vehicle route in and the build and break times. Festival sites often lock vehicle movements once the gates open, so we need to be parked and ready before then.
02
Agree the trading model
Festivals usually work on a pitch fee or commission with guests paying at the van, but some organisers prefer to host the van for crew, artists or VIPs. Tell us which you have in mind.
03
Plan for peaks
Queues build after a headline set, during the hottest hour and around family time in the afternoon. A tight menu of cones, lollies and slush keeps the line moving through those peaks.
04
Check ground conditions
Fields can turn soft after rain. Trackway or hardstanding at the pitch makes a big difference to getting a van in and out safely. Ask your site manager what is laid.
05
Think about overnight
For multi-day festivals, let us know about overnight security, the vehicle curfew and whether the van stays on site or leaves each evening.
Questions people ask
- Do you need a power supply on site?
- No. Our vans run their freezers and soft serve machine from their own batteries, with the engine off while we serve. We do not need a generator, a hook-up or cables across the site. If your site plan has power available we will tell you whether it helps, but we arrive ready to trade without it.
- What documents can you provide for a festival traders' pack?
- We can supply our £5M public liability insurance certificate, 5 Star Food Hygiene rating, NCASS membership details, COSHH assessment, Health and Safety policy and a risk assessment for your site. Allergen information is available for the menu. Send us the traders' pack and we will fill in what you need.
- Can you trade at a festival outside London?
- Yes. We cover all of London and the Home Counties, including Surrey, Kent, Essex, Hertfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Sussex. Travel time is one of the things that shapes a quote, so share the location early and we will check availability.
- Can you serve crew and artists separately from the public?
- Yes. Some festivals book a hosted van for backstage or crew catering as well as, or instead of, a public pitch. We can agree a serving window, a token system or a set menu for crew areas. Backstage service tends to run at quieter times, so it fits around the public pitch well.
