The situation
Black Pride Festival took place at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, east London, on 9 August 2025, with a crowd of around 30,000 people. We were there to serve ice cream through the day.
Black Pride is one of the biggest celebrations of its kind, and it is one of the events we are proudest to have on our list.
The challenge
A festival of 30,000 people changes the job. Most of the crowd will never reach the van, but the ones who do arrive in surges: after a set finishes, when the sun comes out, in the hottest part of the afternoon. The queue has to keep moving or people give up.
Large festivals also tend to have the tightest site rules of any booking, from vehicle access times to what can run on site and where.
Our approach
Vans that are fully electric while serving suit a festival site. There is no engine running to keep the freezers cold, so no exhaust around the crowd and no generator noise next to people who are there to enjoy themselves.
On a festival day the menu works best kept to what is quick to serve, so the line moves at the pace of the crowd. Our documents go to the organiser in advance, so access on the day is straightforward.
The outcome
We served at Black Pride Festival on 9 August 2025, in front of a crowd of around 30,000 people. The atmosphere around the vans was brilliant all day, and the Black Pride organisers were thrilled with how it went. It is one of the reasons festival organisers ask us about large events.
