Ice cream van hire for children's parties

The ice cream van, with chimes, coming to your child's party, fume-free and quiet once it has arrived.

For children, the ice cream van is one of the best surprises there is. Hearing the chimes, seeing the van pull up and being allowed to choose anything from the menu is the stuff of party memories. Parents like it for a different reason: it is a treat that runs itself, with no extra food to prepare and very little mess in the house.

Our vans serve on battery power, which matters when small children are queueing at the hatch. While we serve, the engine is off, so there are no fumes at their height and no engine running beside them. We hold a 5 Star Food Hygiene rating and £5M public liability insurance, and our team is Level 2 Hygiene Certified. Full allergen information is available for every item. Parents can ask for it before the party.

Most children's parties are hosted. The children queue, choose, and get their ice cream with no money changing hands. We recommend keeping the menu to a few child-friendly favourites, such as sprinkle cones, marshmallow cones, Screwballs and lollies. It keeps choices quick and stops the queue stalling while a five-year-old weighs up every option. We can always add more choice for the grown-ups.

Why our vans suit it

  • No fumes at child heightThe engine is off while we serve, and the freezers run on batteries. Children can stand at the hatch without breathing in anything from an engine.
  • Child-friendly menuRainbow Sprinkle Cones, Marshmallow Cones, Screwballs with their bubblegum at the bottom, Rocket Lollies and Mixed Slush are firm favourites with younger guests.
  • Allergen information to handWe hold full allergen information for the menu, so parents can check what is suitable before the party.
Planning ice cream for children's partiesPractical tips

01

Keep the menu short

Three or four options are plenty for young children. Too much choice slows the queue and leads to changes of mind at the hatch.

02

Have an adult at the van

A parent or helper near the van keeps the queue orderly, helps younger children choose and knows which guests have allergies.

03

Plan the chimes

Children love hearing the van arrive. A short burst of the chimes is part of the fun, but keep it brief out of courtesy to the street.

04

Mind the road

Make sure children wait in the garden or on the pavement while the van parks, and that an adult guides them to the hatch.

05

Share allergies in advance

Ask other parents about allergies on the invitation, and tell us when you book. We will talk through what is suitable for each child.

Questions people ask

Will you play the chimes when you arrive?
If you would like us to, yes. Children love it, and a short burst as the van arrives is part of the moment. We keep it brief out of consideration for neighbours, and we can skip it entirely if you prefer.
What if a child has an allergy?
Tell us when you book. We hold full allergen information for every item and can talk you through which options are suitable. Ask us about specific dietary needs. On the day, it helps to have a parent at the van who knows which children have allergies.
Is the van suitable for very young children?
Yes. With no exhaust and no running engine while we serve, the van is a calm, clean space for little ones to queue. Soft serve is easy for small children to eat, and a tub can be easier than a cone for toddlers.
