Ice cream van hire for birthday parties

An ice cream van that pulls up outside for a milestone birthday, a garden party or a family celebration, with nothing to set up.

A birthday party with an ice cream van feels different from the moment the van turns into the road. For a child it is pure excitement. For a fortieth, a sixtieth or an eightieth, it brings back memories of chasing the chimes down the street. Either way, it gives the party a moment that guests remember and talk about. And it takes one job off the host's list.

Most birthday parties happen at home, in a garden, a hall or a pub function room. Our vans are fully electric while serving, so we can park on a residential street or a driveway without an engine running and without fumes drifting into the garden. Neighbours will hardly notice we are there, apart from the queue of guests at the hatch. There is no generator to hide and no cables across the pavement.

The practical side is simple. Tell us the address, the time, roughly how many guests and their ages, and we will suggest a menu and a length of service. Most birthday bookings are hosted, so the person celebrating and their guests just order. A small deposit secures the date. If you want a particular favourite on the menu, just say, and we will include it where we can.

Why our vans suit it

  • Neighbour-friendlyNo engine and no fumes on a residential street while we serve. The van sits quietly outside the house, which makes it far easier to park near the party.
  • Nothing for you to set upThe van arrives fully stocked and self-contained, with no power needed from the house. We serve, tidy up and leave.
  • A menu for every ageFrom Rainbow Sprinkle Cones for young guests to Knickerbocker Glories and Magnums for the adults, the menu covers the whole family.
Planning ice cream for birthday partiesPractical tips

01

Check parking outside

Look at where a van could stop near the house: a driveway, a quiet stretch of road or a car park nearby. Parking restrictions and controlled zones vary, so check the signs on your street.

02

Time it with the cake

Ice cream either just before or just after the cake works well. Avoid serving at the same time as food, when guests are busy eating.

03

Tell us the ages

Young children like sprinkles, marshmallows and lollies. Adults tend to go for Knickerbocker Glories, waffle cones and the classic 99. Knowing the mix helps us suggest a menu.

04

Mention any allergies

If a guest has an allergy, tell us when you book. We hold full allergen information for the menu and can talk through what is suitable.

Questions people ask

Can the van park on our street?
Usually, if there is a legal place to stop near the house. Controlled parking zones, double yellow lines and narrow streets can make it harder. A driveway or a nearby car park can also work. Tell us the address and we will talk through options.
How long should we book the van for?
It depends on the number of guests and how the party runs. For a small family party, a shorter slot is usually plenty. For a big party with guests arriving through the afternoon, a longer slot means latecomers are not missed. We will recommend a length when you tell us your plans.
Can you surprise the birthday person?
Yes. Tell us the plan and we will arrive at the agreed time, quietly or with a burst of the chimes. It is a popular surprise for both children and grown-ups. Share the timings with a family member too, so someone can steer the birthday person outside at the right moment.
