Ice cream van hire for anniversary parties
A nostalgic ice cream van for ruby, golden and diamond anniversaries, quiet enough to sit alongside the toasts.
Anniversary parties are often organised by the family rather than the couple: children and grandchildren planning a surprise for a ruby, golden or diamond anniversary. The guest list spans several generations, and the best touches are the ones that bring back memories. A traditional ice cream van in Mr. Whippy livery does exactly that for anyone who grew up chasing the chimes.
Anniversary parties tend to happen at home, in a restaurant garden, a hall or a hotel. Our vans serve on battery power, so we can park close to the venue without fumes or engine noise while we serve. When the toasts start, we stop serving and wait. Older guests who prefer not to stand in a queue can be served at their table if someone collects for them.
Menus for anniversaries usually lean towards the classics: a 99 with a flake, a Knickerbocker Glory in a tall glass, or an Oyster with Flake for those who remember them. We are happy to suggest a menu that suits the couple's own favourites. If there is a wedding photograph of the couple with an ice cream, or a seaside holiday they always talk about, tell us. Small touches like that are what families remember.
Why our vans suit it
- Real nostalgiaClassic vans, a traditional menu and the Mr. Whippy soft serve guests remember from childhood. It is a natural fit for a long marriage.
- Respectful of the toastsWith no engine running while we serve, the van is close to silent. We pause service during toasts and speeches.
- Easy for older guestsWe can park close to the door so older guests have a short walk, and family members can collect for anyone who would rather stay seated.
01
Keep a surprise secret
If the van is a surprise for the couple, agree an arrival time and a quiet place to wait nearby. We can arrive on cue.
02
Park close to the door
Short walks matter when guests include grandparents and great-grandparents. Tell us about steps, slopes and the nearest place a van can stop.
03
Serve after the meal
If there is a meal, open the van afterwards as dessert or in the gap before cake and toasts.
04
Include the couple's favourites
If the couple always shared a particular ice cream, tell us. We can make sure it is on the menu, as long as we carry it.
Questions people ask
- Can the van be a surprise for the couple?
- Yes. Tell us the plan, an arrival time and someone to contact on the day. We can wait nearby and arrive on cue, with or without the chimes. Most surprise arrivals work best just after guests have settled, when the couple least expect anything else to happen.
- Can you serve guests who cannot easily stand in a queue?
- Yes. Family members or helpers can collect orders for guests who prefer to stay seated. Let us know in advance if many older guests are attending and we will plan to park as close to the venue as possible. Tubs can be easier than cones for some guests.
- Can you serve at a restaurant or hotel?
- Often, if the venue agrees. Many restaurants and hotels have rules about outside caterers and vehicles. Ask the venue first, and we can send our insurance and food hygiene documents. Restaurant gardens and hotel car parks are often the most practical spots, so ask about those specifically.
