Ice cream van hire for christenings and naming days
A calm ice cream van, fume-free while serving, for the family gathering after a christening, baptism or naming ceremony.
A christening or naming day brings the whole family together, often for the first time since a wedding. The ceremony itself is short, and the gathering afterwards, at home, a hall or a pub garden, is where most of the day happens. Guests range from the baby's cousins to great-grandparents, and the host wants everyone fed, happy and comfortable. It is a lot to organise.
An ice cream van suits that mix well. Children have something to look forward to, adults enjoy a nostalgic cone, and the van keeps everyone outside in the fresh air. Our vans serve on battery power, which matters when there are babies and older relatives about. While we serve there is no exhaust, no engine noise and nothing to disturb a baby who has finally fallen asleep.
We usually serve after the ceremony and the meal, when families are relaxed and settled. If the gathering is at a church hall or community venue, check whether the venue has rules about vehicles. We can send our insurance and hygiene documents to help. If the gathering is at home, a driveway or the street outside usually works well, and we will ask about access when you book.
Why our vans suit it
- Gentle around babiesNo fumes and almost no noise while we serve. The van will not disturb a sleeping baby or crowd a family gathering.
- Something for every generationLollies and sprinkle cones for children, classic 99s for grandparents and Knickerbocker Glories for everyone in between.
- Respectful of the venueWe keep the chimes off near churches and quiet venues unless you ask for them.
01
Serve after the ceremony
The ceremony comes first. Book the van for the gathering afterwards, when guests have arrived and settled.
02
Ask the venue about vehicles
Church halls and community venues often have limited parking. Ask where a van can stop, and tell us about any rules.
03
Plan for all ages
Christenings bring together young children and older relatives. A short mixed menu covers everyone without slowing the queue.
04
Mind the chimes
Near a place of worship, we will keep the chimes off unless you tell us otherwise.
Questions people ask
- Can you come to the church after the service?
- Usually we serve at the gathering afterwards, at home or at a hall. If the gathering is in the church grounds, check with the church first. Some are happy to have a van nearby, while others prefer vehicles kept away.
- Will the chimes disturb the ceremony?
- We will not play the chimes near a place of worship unless you ask us to, and never during a service. The van itself makes very little noise while serving, as there is no engine running. If you would like a short burst as guests come out of church, tell us and we will time it with care.
- How far ahead should we book for a christening?
- Christenings are often on Sundays, which are popular days for events. Book as soon as the date is fixed. A small deposit secures the date. Tell us the ceremony time and the address of the gathering, and we will plan our arrival for when guests are settled and ready to enjoy the afternoon.
