Ice cream van hire in Reading
Battery-powered ice cream vans for Reading's parks, offices, schools and university events, by the Thames and the Kennet.
Reading is the largest town in Berkshire, a big commercial centre where the River Kennet meets the Thames. The ruins of Reading Abbey sit beside Forbury Gardens and its huge cast iron lion, and the Oracle shopping centre lines the Kennet. The University of Reading campus at Whiteknights adds a large student population, and the town is best known nationally for the Reading Festival, held each August on the riverside at Little John's Farm.
Reading has a lot of office workers, a lot of students and a lot of families, so the events we hear about range from staff summer parties and university events to school fairs and children's birthdays in Caversham, Earley and Tilehurst. It is one of our longer journeys west, and we plan around the M4. Our vans serve on battery power with no engine running, which suits an office plaza, a campus lawn or a primary school playground.

Wedding ice cream van hire in Reading
Reading weddings use hotels in the town, riverside venues, and country houses and barns in the Berkshire and south Oxfordshire countryside nearby. Rural venues can have narrow lanes and soft grass, so tell us about access early. With no fumes while we serve, the van can stand close to the reception, and a dessert round of waffle cones or Knickerbocker Glories works well once the speeches are done.

Reading: questions
- Can you serve at an event in Forbury Gardens?
- Forbury Gardens is a historic council park in the town centre, enclosed by railings and next to the Abbey ruins, so vehicle access is very limited. Events and trading there need the council's permission. If you are organising something in the town centre, ask the council early about where a van could stand outside the gates.
- Do you cover university events in Reading?
- Yes. Freshers' events, society socials and graduation days are a good fit for a van. Events at Whiteknights need approval from the university or the students' union, who will usually ask for our insurance and food hygiene documents. A short menu of Mr. Whippy cones and lollies serves a long student queue efficiently. See our universities ideas page.
- How far west do you travel from South Croydon?
- Reading is the western edge of our usual coverage. We travel there for private parties, school events, corporate days and weddings, and plan the journey around M4 traffic. Distance is a bigger part of the quote here than for nearer towns, alongside hours, guest numbers and menu. Send us the details and we will give you a clear price.
