Ice cream van hire for universities

University events run on a busy calendar. Freshers' week in September, open days through the year, a revision-break giveaway during exams in May, graduation days and summer balls in June. Student unions, wellbeing teams, recruitment teams and societies all have reasons to book an ice cream van, and each has a slightly different aim. Some want footfall, some want goodwill, and some just want students to step away from their desks.

London campuses can be awkward for vehicles. Many are in the middle of the city, with pedestrianised squares, tight service roads and strict rules about engines idling near teaching buildings. Our vans are ULEZ compliant, and the freezers run from battery while we serve with the engine off, so there is no exhaust on the quad and no noise outside lecture theatres or the library.

Campus events teams usually need insurance, a food hygiene rating and a risk assessment before a vehicle is allowed on site. We hold £5M public liability insurance, a 5 Star Food Hygiene rating and NCASS membership, and we send documents in advance. A hosted giveaway with tokens works well for wellbeing and recruitment events, while student union events often prefer students to pay at the van.
