Ice cream van hire for summer parties

The obvious guest at any summer party, an ice cream van that runs quietly on battery while it serves.

Summer parties come in every shape: company summer socials, family barbecues, street parties, end-of-term celebrations and neighbourhood get-togethers. What they have in common is a hot afternoon, guests outdoors and a host who wants things to run themselves. An ice cream van does exactly that. Guests queue at the hatch instead of raiding the kitchen freezer, and the van takes its rubbish away at the end.

Summer is our busiest season. Weekends from June to August and any week with a heatwave in the forecast fill quickly. If you have a date in mind, it is worth booking early, especially for Saturdays in July. A small deposit secures the date, and the quote is tailored to location, duration and guest numbers. Weekday dates are often easier to find.

Our vans serve from battery with no engine running, so while serving they are quiet and fume-free next to a garden, a terrace or a closed road. They are ULEZ compliant anywhere in London, and we cover the Home Counties too. Tell us about your party and we will suggest a menu and a length of service to match.

Planning ice cream for summer partiesPractical tips

01

Book early for July

Summer Saturdays are the first dates to go. If your party is on a weekend in July or August, enquire as early as you can.

02

Have a heatwave plan

If a heatwave arrives, expect guests to want more ice cream and drinks. Consider a longer serving time or more slush and lollies.

03

Shade for the queue

If you can, position the van where guests can queue in shade, or put up a gazebo nearby.

04

Serve with the food

At a barbecue, open the van after the main food is served, when guests are looking for something cold.

05

Mix the menu

Include slush and lollies for the hottest hours, alongside soft serve cones and something special for adults.

Questions people ask

How far in advance should we book for a summer party?
As early as you can, particularly for weekends in June, July and August. Popular dates go months ahead. A small deposit secures the date once you have your quote. If your date is flexible, tell us, as a Sunday or a weekday can open up more options than a busy Saturday in July.
Do you bring drinks as well?
Yes. We carry a full range of chilled soft drinks, from Coca-Cola and Fanta to still and sparkling water and juices, alongside the ice cream, lollies and slush. On a hot day, guests often come back to the van for a drink as much as for an ice cream, so drinks are worth including.
Can you come to a street party?
Yes. Street parties usually need a road closure agreed with the council. Include the van in your plans and make sure there is a way for it to get onto the closed road before barriers go up. Residents can then queue on the road itself.
