Ice cream van hire in Purley
Battery-powered ice cream vans for Purley's hillside gardens, schools and downland, from a business based just up the road.
Purley sits where several valleys meet at the southern edge of Croydon, with the A23 and A22 running through the middle and steep residential roads climbing away on every side. Much of the town is made up of large detached houses with long back gardens, which is why so many events here are private ones: birthdays, summer parties and family gatherings held at home. Our registered office is in South Croydon, a short drive away, so Purley is very much on our doorstep.
The hills are the main thing to plan for. Some driveways and side roads in Purley are steep, narrow or both, and a van needs a level spot to serve safely. Tell us about the slope and the width of the road when you enquire and we will work out where the van can stand. Our vans are fully electric while serving: the freezers and soft-serve machine run on batteries, not an idling engine, so we can park close to a house or garden without fumes drifting over your guests while we serve.

Wedding ice cream van hire in Purley
Couples in Purley often hold the reception at home in a marquee, or book one of the golf clubs and country hotels on the hills around Croydon and the Surrey border. For a garden wedding, check that the van can reach a firm, level spot near the marquee without crossing soft lawn. With no engine running while we serve, the van can sit close to the tent during speeches. Our wedding ice cream van guide covers timings and menu choices.

Purley: questions
- Can you get a van up a steep Purley driveway?
- Sometimes, but it is often better to park on the road or at the top of the drive where the ground is level. The serving equipment needs a flat surface, and a steep slope can make the van unsafe to work from. Send us a photo or a street name and we will suggest the best position before the day.
- Do I need permission for a van outside my house in Purley?
- For a private party where the van serves only your invited guests, parked on your drive or legally on the street, it is usually straightforward. Trading to the public on a street is different and is controlled by Croydon Council. If you are unsure, check with the council. Our London permissions guide explains the general picture.
- What works well for a children's party in Purley?
- Mr. Whippy cones are the easy favourite, and the Marshmallow Cone, Rainbow Sprinkle Cone and Screwball with Flake go down well with younger guests. For a larger group, a prepaid token system means children can choose without anyone handling money. Our children's parties page has more ideas.
