Ice cream van hire in Camden

Battery-powered ice cream vans for Camden's heath, markets, campuses and residential streets.

Camden runs from the offices and universities of Holborn and Bloomsbury up through Camden Town and Kentish Town to the leafy streets of Hampstead. It has Hampstead Heath and Primrose Hill, the redeveloped canal side at King's Cross, the music venues of Camden Town and some of London's best known schools and hospitals. That mix means events of every kind: student welcome days, fetes, street parties, birthdays on the Heath and corporate summer days in King's Cross.

Much of Camden is dense housing on narrow terraced streets, often on hills, where a van idling outside would quickly annoy the neighbours. Our vans run the freezers and soft serve machine from the battery, so there is no engine noise and no exhaust while we serve. That makes them easier to place outside a school gate, next to a block of flats or in a pedestrian square such as Granary Square. It also helps when an event is near a hospital, a library or a lecture theatre.

  • Granary Square

A public square at King's Cross beside Regent's Canal, known for its fountains.

The largest public square in London, surrounded by legal chambers in Holborn.

Parks and public spaces need the organiser to hold permission from the council or the site’s operator. We bring the documents they usually ask for.

Booking in CamdenGood to know

01

Check who manages the space

Camden's open spaces are run by different bodies. Hampstead Heath is managed by the City of London Corporation, Primrose Hill by The Royal Parks, and many squares by the council or private estates. Ask the right one about permission before you book.

02

Mind the hills and narrow streets

Some Camden streets are steep, narrow or lined with parked cars on both sides. Tell us where you would like the van and whether bays need suspending, and we will check access before the day.

03

Student and campus events

Universities and colleges usually have their own events and facilities teams with set paperwork. We can send insurance, food hygiene and risk assessment documents to them directly. Our universities page has ideas.

Wedding ice cream van hire in Camden

Camden mixes very different wedding settings within a mile or two. Camden Town Hall on Euston Road holds the borough's register office, while Hampstead and Highgate offer garden weddings in large private houses and smaller venues close to the Heath. Around King's Cross, converted industrial buildings and canal-side spaces have become popular for relaxed receptions, and Camden Town itself has plenty of music venues and bars that take private hire.

Hampstead streets are steep and narrow, and garden weddings there often mean a van parked on the road with guests walking out to it, so a parking suspension from the council can be worth looking into. At King's Cross, venues tend to have proper service yards. In both cases the van makes no engine noise while we serve, so it can sit close to a marquee or terrace during speeches. Our battery-powered vans are ULEZ compliant.

Camden: questions

Can you bring a van to a party on Hampstead Heath?
Hampstead Heath is managed by the City of London Corporation, which has its own rules on vehicles and trading. For a private gathering you would need their permission first, and vehicle access is limited. A garden or private venue nearby is often simpler. Talk to us early and we can help you think through the options.
Can you serve a street party in Kentish Town or Camden Town?
Yes, if the road closure and the van's position are agreed with the council. Street parties usually need an application to close the road, and you should mention the ice cream van in it. Our van is quiet and fume-free while serving, so neighbours are not bothered by an engine. Our community events page has planning tips.
Do you work with schools in Camden?
We can serve at school fetes, sports days and end of term treats across the borough. A prepaid token system works well so children do not need to bring money to the van, and the van, silent while serving, can stand close to a playground. Read our school event planning guide for a step by step plan.
