Raspberry sauce
Definition
Raspberry sauce is the bright red syrup squeezed over soft serve. In parts of Britain it is jokingly nicknamed "monkey blood".
Raspberry sauce on an ice cream van is a sweet red syrup in a squeezy bottle, poured in a zigzag over a cone. It is more about colour and sweetness than fresh fruit. In many parts of the country it goes by the nickname "monkey blood", which is pure playground humour.
It is one of the cheapest ways to make a plain cone look special, and a 99 with red sauce is about as traditional as van ice cream gets. We use raspberry as a flavour in our Raspberry Knickerbocker Glory. If you want particular sauces available on the day, mention it when you book and we will talk you through the options.
