COSHH
Definition
COSHH stands for Control of Substances Hazardous to Health, the UK regulations on handling harmful substances such as cleaning chemicals.
The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations require employers to control exposure to hazardous substances at work. In practice that means identifying the chemicals you use, assessing the risks, putting controls in place and making sure staff know how to use them safely. Protective equipment, such as gloves, may be part of those controls.
For a food business the main substances are usually cleaning products and sanitisers. A COSHH assessment covers how they are stored, diluted, used and kept away from food, which links directly to food safety. Kreamy Delights holds a COSHH assessment alongside our Health & Safety policy and risk assessments. Councils and organisers can request copies.
