Ice cream van hire for sports events

A battery-powered ice cream van at the edge of the pitch for football tournaments, rugby festivals, cricket days and polo matches.

Sports events have a rhythm: bursts of play, then breaks between matches, at half-time or while results are worked out. Those breaks are when players, parents and spectators want something cold. An ice cream van parked by the touchline or the clubhouse catches people as they come off the pitch and keeps families on site between fixtures. Clubs like that for the extra time spent at the ground.

Junior football tournaments, rugby festivals, athletics meets, cricket matches and polo days are often held at clubs or parks with limited vehicle access and plenty of children about. Our vans serve on battery power, so while we serve there is no exhaust drifting across the pitch or the spectator area and no generator needed for the freezers. They are ULEZ compliant, which helps for venues across Greater London.

Clubs and organisers usually want to know about insurance and food hygiene before allowing a trader on site. We hold £5M public liability insurance, a 5 Star Food Hygiene rating, NCASS membership and a COSHH assessment, and we can supply a risk assessment for your ground. Most sports bookings let spectators pay at the van, but clubs can also host it for players with tokens.

Why our vans suit it

  • No fumes by the touchlineWith the engine off and no exhaust while we serve, the van can park near the pitch and spectator areas without fumes drifting over players or families.
  • Fits a long dayTournaments run for hours. Battery power keeps the freezers running all day with no generator to refuel or move.
  • Tokens for playersClubs can hand out tokens to players after their final match, a simple reward that does not involve cash at the pitch side.
Planning ice cream for sports eventsPractical tips

01

Position near the flow of people

The best spot is between the pitches and the car park or clubhouse, where players and spectators walk past between games. Keep it clear of the field of play.

02

Plan for half-time peaks

Queues build at half-time and between fixtures. A quick menu of cones, lollies and slush handles the peaks best.

03

Check ground access

Club grounds can have narrow lanes, height barriers and soft grass. Tell us the route in and where vehicles can park.

04

Agree who pays

Spectators usually pay at the van. Clubs can also buy tokens for players or volunteers, and some organisers agree a pitch fee.

Questions people ask

Can you stay for the whole of a tournament day?
Yes. The van runs on battery and can trade through a full tournament day. Tell us start and finish times, and we will quote for the hours you need. For multi-day tournaments, tell us whether the van can stay on site overnight or should leave each evening, and we will plan around that.
Can you serve players as a reward from the club?
Yes. Clubs often hand out prepaid tokens to players after their final match. Agree the number of tokens and the menu with us in advance, and we will serve players as they come to the van. Spectators can still pay for their own.
Do you serve drinks as well as ice cream?
Yes. We carry a range of chilled soft drinks and water alongside the ice cream, lollies and slush, which is useful on a hot day at the pitch side. Water and Lucozade Energy are often what players reach for after a match, alongside a slush or lolly.
