Ice cream van hire in Southend-on-Sea

Battery-powered ice cream vans for Southend, Leigh-on-Sea and Westcliff: seaside parties, school fairs and weddings by the estuary.

Southend-on-Sea is the classic Essex seaside resort, and it became a city in 2022. Its pier, well over a mile long, is the longest pleasure pier in the world, and the seafront runs from Adventure Island east towards Thorpe Bay and Shoeburyness. To the west, Leigh-on-Sea has the cockle sheds and fishing boats of Old Leigh, while Westcliff and Chalkwell have cliff gardens and parks above the estuary. Trains on two lines run into London, to Fenchurch Street and Liverpool Street.

Ice cream and Southend go together, and the seafront already has plenty of kiosks. Where a hired van makes sense is at private events away from the front: birthday parties, school fairs, community days in the parks, staff events and weddings. Our vans keep everything cold from batteries, so there is no engine to run while we serve. That suits a garden party in Leigh, a primary school playground in Shoeburyness, or a marquee on a hotel lawn.

Wedding ice cream van hire in Southend-on-Sea

Southend weddings often use seafront hotels, golf clubs, function suites and country venues towards Rochford and the Essex marshes. Receptions near the water can be breezy, so a sheltered spot for the van, out of the wind and close to the doors, helps. With no engine running, the van can stand near the reception and serve Mr. Whippy cones or Knickerbocker Glories to round off the evening.

Southend-on-Sea: questions

Can you trade on Southend seafront?
Trading on the seafront and in public spaces is controlled by the city council, and there are established traders along the front. We do not set up on public land without permission. For a private event, a hotel forecourt, a garden or a school field is the best option. For a public event, the organiser needs to agree trading with the council first.
Do you cover Leigh-on-Sea and Westcliff?
Yes. We cover the whole of Southend, including Leigh-on-Sea, Westcliff, Chalkwell, Thorpe Bay, Shoeburyness and Eastwood, plus Rochford and Rayleigh nearby. Some roads in Leigh drop steeply towards the estuary and are lined with parked cars, so a level drive or school car park is best. Tell us where you would like the van and we will check it.
Is an ice cream van worth booking in a seaside town?
For a private event, yes. Guests do not have to walk to the front and queue with the public, the menu is chosen by you, and a prepaid token system means nobody pays at the hatch. A van also brings the fun of the seaside to a school field or back garden. See our primary school events page and our birthday parties page.
