Ice cream van hire for primary schools

Primary schools book ice cream vans for all sorts of reasons: the last day of the summer term, a reward for a good attendance record, a celebration after SATs, a Year 6 leavers' afternoon or simply a heatwave. Whatever the reason, the school's priorities are the same. The children need to be safe, every pupil needs to be included, and staff do not want a complicated afternoon.

Our vans are fully electric while serving, with no engine or generator running. There is no exhaust at child height and no engine running beside classroom windows, which is why we can park on a playground or at the edge of the field. We hold a 5 Star Food Hygiene rating, £5M public liability insurance, a COSHH assessment and a Health and Safety policy, and our documents are ready to send to the school business manager before we arrive.

We work to a prepaid token system that suits primary schools well. Children receive a token in class, walk to the van with their teacher and swap it for an ice cream. Nobody carries money, no child is left out, and the school knows exactly what it is paying for. If the school would rather families paid, we can do that too, but most primary schools find tokens far simpler on the day.
