Norbury is the northernmost corner of the London Borough of Croydon, sitting on the London Road between Streatham and Thornton Heath. It is mostly residential, with interwar semis and terraces, a stretch of shops along the main road and a fast rail link from Norbury station. Norbury Brook, a stretch of the River Graveney, runs through the area, much of it hidden in culverts. Gardens here are usually modest, so many parties spill out onto the street or into the parks.

Norbury has more green space than many people expect. Norbury Park and Norbury Hall are both well used by local families, and Norwood Grove and Streatham Common are right next door. Events here range from children's parties at home to school fairs and summer gatherings in the parks.
