Ice cream van hire in City of London

Quiet ice cream for the Square Mile's offices, courtyards and summer events, with no fumes while we serve.

The City of London is a working district first. On a weekday it fills with office staff, and most events here are built around them: summer staff parties, client days, team rewards and launches held in courtyards, plazas and building lobbies. Space is tight, streets are narrow and many buildings back straight onto public walkways, so anything parked outside has to be neat, quiet and well organised. An ice cream van that can pull in, open the hatch and serve without fuss suits the way the City works.

Our vans are fully electric while serving. The freezers and soft serve machine run from the battery, so there is no engine idling outside an office window or a meeting room, and no exhaust drifting into a lobby or a busy pavement crowd at lunchtime. The whole of London sits inside the ULEZ, and the City also falls inside the Congestion Charge zone. Our vans are ULEZ compliant, which makes planning simpler. With nothing running while we serve, some indoor and covered venues can accept the van, subject to their own access and safety rules, so we can also talk to building managers about atriums and covered spaces.

Where events happen in City of London

  • Barbican Centre

A major arts and conference centre in the Barbican Estate, with lakeside terraces and large foyers.

  • Guildhall Yard

The open courtyard in front of Guildhall, used for public events through the year.

  • Leadenhall Market

A covered Victorian market near Bank, home to shops, bars and restaurants.

  • Finsbury Circus Gardens

An oval garden close to Liverpool Street and one of the larger green spaces in the City.

  • St Paul's Cathedral

Sir Christopher Wren's cathedral, surrounded by churchyard gardens and open paved areas.

  • Smithfield

The historic meat market district on the City's western edge, near Farringdon and Barbican.

Parks and public spaces need the organiser to hold permission from the council or the site’s operator. We bring the documents they usually ask for.

Booking in City of LondonGood to know

01

Ask your building manager early

Most City events happen on private estate land or in office plazas, so the building or estate management team usually decides where a van can stand. Bring them in at the start and we can send our insurance, hygiene and risk assessment documents straight over.

02

Plan the route and timing

Loading bays and service roads in the City are busy during working hours. Tell us about any access windows, height limits or security checks, and we will plan arrival so the van is set up before your guests come down.

03

Consider prepaid tokens for staff events

For a team treat, a prepaid token system keeps the queue moving and means nobody needs to pay at the hatch. You hand out tokens, staff choose from the menu, and we settle the total with you afterwards.

WeddingsSilent, fume-free, close to your guests

Wedding ice cream van hire in City of London

Few people live in the Square Mile, yet it hosts a good number of weddings. Livery halls, old churches, rooftop terraces and hotels around Bank, the Barbican and Smithfield all take receptions. The catch is access: narrow lanes, strict loading bays and almost no parking. Weekends are far quieter than weekdays, which helps, but any van needs a loading slot agreed with the venue in advance, and sometimes a courtyard or indoor spot rather than the kerb.

Our vans serve on battery power, so while we serve there is no engine idling beside a listed building and no exhaust drifting into an enclosed courtyard full of guests. With nothing running while we serve, some indoor and covered venues can accept the van, subject to their own access and safety rules. ULEZ is not a concern. Ask the events team which entrance and loading time suits them, then tell us when the wedding breakfast ends and the evening starts. We can arrive in that gap and set up without disturbing anyone.

City of London: questions

Can you serve inside an office building in the City?
Sometimes. With no engine or generator running while we serve, there are no exhaust fumes at the van, so some atriums, lobbies and covered spaces can accept it, subject to their own access and safety rules. It depends on the building: door widths, floor loading and the building's own rules all matter. Send us the details and we will work through it with your facilities team. Our indoor venue ice cream guide covers the main checks.
Do we need permission to park the van on a City street?
Trading on a public street is controlled by the local authority, which in the Square Mile is the City of London Corporation. Most corporate events avoid this by using private land such as a courtyard or plaza. If you want the van on a street or public space, check with the Corporation first. Our London permissions guide explains the general picture.
What works best for a lunchtime staff event?
Keep the menu short so the queue moves quickly. Mr. Whippy cones such as the Single with Flake, plus a couple of premium waffle cones, cover most tastes. Agree a serving window that fits around meetings, and think about tokens so staff can collect a cone without carrying cash. Our office treats page has more ideas.
