ULEZ
Definition
ULEZ is London's Ultra Low Emission Zone. Vehicles that do not meet its emission standards pay a daily charge to drive within it.
The Ultra Low Emission Zone is run by Transport for London to cut air pollution. Cars, vans and other vehicles that do not meet set emission standards must pay a daily charge to drive in the zone. It has been expanded over time and now covers all London boroughs. Cameras read number plates, so drivers do not stop at any barrier.
Older diesel vehicles are the most likely to be affected, and many ice cream vans are older diesels. For an organiser, the charge is usually the operator's concern, but it can affect which vans are willing to travel into London and what they quote. Check TfL for the current rules. Our vans drive on diesel and are ULEZ compliant, so there is no ULEZ charge and they can serve anywhere in London.
