Chopped nuts
Definition
Chopped nuts are a classic sundae topping of small pieces of roasted nuts. They add crunch, but nuts are major allergens and need careful handling.
Chopped or toasted nuts have topped sundaes and banana splits for as long as either has existed. They add crunch and a roasted flavour that balances sweet sauces. They are also one of the most important allergen risks at any food stall. Peanuts and tree nuts are both on the UK list of 14 major allergens, and even a small amount carried on a spoon or scoop can be enough to cause a serious reaction in someone with an allergy. Sprinkled toppings are the hardest to control, because loose pieces scatter across a busy counter.
Our Choc Nut sundae comes with chocolate sauce and toasted nuts. If you have guests with nut allergies, tell us when you book so we can plan the menu and service around them, and read our allergen page before the event. Guests should also feel free to ask staff at the hatch about any item before they order.
